Manazir المناظر العلى
Divine Ideas (default in Akbarian technical usage; the lofty intelligibilia of which the gnostic hearts are passionately enamoured (Nicholson 1911 Tarjumān commentary))
Manazir (المناظر العلى) — Always rendered with the qualifier al-ʿulā (“the lofty”) in this Akbarian usage. The manāẓir al-ʿulā are the noetic objects that “possess” the heart of the gnostic; the inversion in Tarjumān Ode I, line 1 is that the Ideas cannot know which heart they possess, because they belong to that heart’s essence. Distinguish from the Platonic eidos (which is a separate substance) and from the Akbarian aʿyān thābita (fixed entities in divine knowledge); the manāẓir sit closer to the locus-of-gnostic-contemplation than to the locus- of-divine-self-knowledge. Capitalize “Divine Ideas” when the technical register is active. Range card mandatory in any passage where the term appears.
